Vivienne Licudi - was born and educated in London,
her family originated from Seville and came to London during the Spanish
Civil War in 1939. She became influenced by stories of artists and poets
of the time.
During the early 90’s, Vivienne studied and gained a diploma in
portraiture, figurative painting and sculpture from the Royal Portrait
Society, followed by a further five years of studio work with the portrait
painter Ken Paine PS, SPF. She has also studied with Cyril Mann –‘
a tyrant’ of perfection with light and form, and has completed
a commission for the art historian Dr. Elizabeth Philpot.
Her influences have been found in Velasquez and Rembrandt
for drama, in Degas for his beautiful movement and colour, in Gwen John
for her quiet contemplative studies of people and interiors and also
to Georgio Morandi for his exquisite ‘still lives’- colour
harmonies and the tension created in spatial awareness.
Vivienne’s early life was focused on classical ballet, and she
trained with the Ballet Rambert, followed by studies in Flamenco’
and jazz ballet. These years have influenced the observations of both
'movement and stillness’ Vivienne likes to display in figurative
and portrait work.

“Dance and music has given me a sense of elegance and design.
I constantly observe beautiful shapes people create around themselves
whilst moving that they seem unaware of - we see life 'in a glance’
and we remember ‘moments’- and the 'possibility of romance
therein’, the ‘moments' become a ‘personal history’
to each of us - and all of this inspires me. For me art is about telling
a story, and promoting a dream"
